Gregs Gift 08-10-09

October is one week old already,we’re starting to hear how many shopping days are  left to Christmas.No wonder it can be so hard to stay focussed in the NOW.I’ve just been with my friend Greg.Three  years ago he was given months to live.He was told he had malignant tumours on his brain ,his neck,and on his spine.He has defied the prognosis of all his medical team.His body has taken a battering, he is paralised from the waist down,but his spirit is irrepressable.While those around him get down he just gets on with it.He asked his consultant what he really thaught  last week and he told him that he” wouldn’t jump off a winning horse”.This gave Greg a great lift.I asked him today how he felt about his situation and his reply was ,”I use my condition as a rudder to steer me through life”.As I sat there in awe ,the noise in my head and  my  petty worries just faded away.What a gift to recieve from an amazing man!
